BLOG 8: Personal Opinions

Hello and welcome to my last post!

Today I´m going to talk about social media, technology and how these topics affect our human relationships.

I think the comunication through social networks it is not always completely clear and precise, I mean that, If you send a message, by texting it, you can´t put your facial expressions on the text. If you are angry or totally excited, maybe you could add some exclamation marks, but you can´t add voice intentionality, perhaps If you complement it with a video or an audio recording the information will be a little more complete, but I think that despite that, nothing can replace the face to face dialogue.

So, how this technological "advances" affect our human relationships. Well the first thing that I feel that technology affect is the capacity of having face to face spontaneous relationships. Some times we think it is easier talking each other by a smartphone screen, because you can say things freely, you can add emojies, like more "decorative" messages, but we must rember that: anyone is behind that screen, so is in that point we take the risk of saying (texting) something innappropiate, by insulting or hurting the sensibility of others, because we "don´t know" who we are talking with, by a screen we can model or manipulate our own feelings, I mean if we are sad, maybe when someone text us, we´ll say that we are ok, we are fine, but that isn´t true, or simply we don´t answer the message and the other person can "read that answer" like you are angry, or you are not interested on him or her. It is kind of dangerous the way we are forming relationship, based on insecurities, misinterpretations, misunderstood and far from reality.

I think neverthless, the society is realizing the value of the human contact, the conversation, the affections and also the warmth of being in front of the other. We ara changing our perception, and I´m hopeful that we ar going to return to the essential and gratifying of being humans!

I hope you and your family is good, and you´ve enjoyed this last post!

Bye!!

Here is a link of a Disney´s short: "Paperman", thaht is about the importance of knowing someone and how we fight to achieve it!

  1. Hi, I agree with you very much, because I have found that I worry when I send a message because I don't know if the other person interpreted correctly what I meant, for me there is simply no other better way than to communicate them head on.

  3. I found your blog very interesting, especially that now because of the pandemic contact and closeness has become very precious, we went from spending time on the cell phone because it is easier to communicate to using it because it is not sociable, and we begin to want to return to the essential, to the closeness.

  4. I agree with the communication problems that can be generated by social networks, finally you never really know if the other person understood what you wanted to say and it can lead to many misunderstandings:c

  5. I totally agree with you, because the more we enter this world without faces, or fake faces, the more we lose the essential and basic that we have as people, which is physical interaction, and the development of empathy or awareness that we are all beings who feel and need people and relationships
